Look how much fun we had in Caerleon! Firstly we met a real life Roman and watched a video all about the Roman Times. Then we split into two groups, half of us explored the barrack rooms where Romans would sleep and keep their armour and other personal possessions. The other half acted out a role play dinner party, we had to pretend to be slaves and royals. We learned about all the different types of food they would eat, some of it was disgusting! After swapping activities we had a look around the museum and spent our money on really essential items in the gift shop! After lunch we made the long and muddy walk to the footprint of the actual Roman barracks! Some of left the barracks a lot less muddy than others! Lastly we visited the Roman baths, these were really cool. They used projector lights and speakers to imitate the rippling water. The trip was so much fun! When we got back to school we wrote a very detailed recount of our day out, focusing on our senses and being as descriptive as possible. Have a look at our pictures, we took lots!

We had lots of fun at Techniquest!

Topic for the spring term is titled 'The Romans are Coming!'

Class 5 will be learning all about how the Romans invaded  Wales and there will be a visit to Caerleon to enhance our understanding and engagement in this topic and learning.

Scrumdiddlyumptious!

Our project for the first half of the Autumn term has been about a yummy journey of discovery, tasting fantastic fruits, venerable vegetables and tantalising treats! We have worked up an appetite with delicious stories and poetry about food, designed and made a fruity sculptor and writen exciting recipes. We have created and whizzed up our own scrumdiddlyumptious smoothie for Squeezy Joe and his team of fruity friends! Some of us had never tried a smoothie before, they were delicious!

To get us excited about this topic, we were lucky enough to visit a big chain supermarket, Tesco's. We received VIP treatment visiting the bakery and lots of other off limits areas of the store. We ended the trip with a food tasting experience, delicious!

Today we visited All Saints church where we carried out our harvest assembly. Our class performed Food Glorious Food from the musical Oliver.

During the Autumn term our topic is Scrumdiddlyumtious. So far we have made lots of tasty treats and enjoyed a behind the scenes trip to Tesco. It was super fun!
